To wet palette or not to wet palette?

With my recent mini-assembly marathon the amount of stuff to paint is steadily growing ever larger. So soon I'll be having a painting marathon to get the stuff ready for use on the tabletop.
But ...
I remember that when I used to paint regulary years ago the amount of paint wasted was rather large because of it drying so fast on my trusty old CD's that I used as a palette. Mixing paints was something I gave up on because I found it very difficult to mix the same highlight colour the next day, it always was such a hassle.
Fast forward to present day and I discovered something new: the wet palette.
Having never heard of this or how you're supposed to use it I started watching some tutorials online to get an idea on what this fancy sounding contraption actually is.
And you know what? It's a ..... sponge? with some sort of paper on top of it? I've seen videos online that try to convince me that by using this wet palette I will:
- save on the amount of paint used
be able to blend colours easily on the palette and store them for quite some time (at least overnight)
become a much better painter
Guess I'll be having a look around, maybe even visit my local arts and craft store to see first hand what kind of magical thing this wet palette really is!
