Imperial Knight, what to do with the extra bits?

I just completed my first Imperial Knight build and I must say: what a fantastic model! So much detail, so many options .... but more on the Knight in another blog post.

Right now I'm going to ramble about the huge pile of plastic you get with this kit. Relax, this is not going to be a rant about the environment and plastic killing the planet, that debate is to be made by much smarter people than me.

What's this about then? Well ....

When you finish building this awesome model you're left with a bunch of extra weapons, shields and other assorted bits. Seems such a waste to just throw it away or dump it into the bits box waiting for another Knight boxed set ... but that would include its own extra bits, so no real solution there.

What if I could find alternative miniatures for the Imperial Knights, that I could then further kitbash to make them look the part using just the leftover stuff from my recent build? Not only would that solve the "problem" of getting stuck with heaps of plastic, it would also bring some variation in a possible pure Imperial Knight army that I may collect.

So I went online and started my search for suitable miniatures to kitbash an Imperial Knight:

This awesome miniature combined with the leftover Knight bits would make a great looking alternate Knight!

I can't wait to try this out to see if it would actually work and look good on the tabletop next to it's "Pure Games Workshop" brothers.

This will be a 2021 project, 'cause I need to get some stuff painted and tabletop ready first.
