First terrain painted up
For games of Kill Team at home I need a lot of terrain to fill up a battlefield. The pieces included in the starterset are not enough for my liking (although you really do get a lot of terrain in that box!), so I looked around for some cheap yet good looking terrain.
PWork Wagames has just that in their broad mdf range of terrain, go check them out at https://www.pworkwargames.com
My first pick out of their range was the Combatzone kit:

A good starting point for a collection of generic futuristic terrain to help create a varied battlefield.

I wanted to add some extra details without making it too time consuming or difficult, a testcase of sorts to see if I could transfer my ideas onto the kit without making it look like ... well ... stupid I guess.
Starting with a metallic undercoat spray I added some black and brown washes over the entire kit.
I then tried to model on some moss-like vegetation at random places using tea, sand and the scraped off mdf from cleaning the kit mixed with PVA glue.
A piece of old cloth soaked in watered down PVA glue was used to imitate some tarp hanging from the structure.

The tarp was painted black with a little grey drybrush.
For the vegetation I went with a green basecoat, a brown wash and a yellow drybrush.
Everything then got a black wash and a very light drybrushing with brown.
Some scratchbuild wooden planks made from matches and popsicle sticks were added. I can use them as a barricade or walkway between structures.
I finished the kit by adding some posters (you can download and print these) and tried to mimic graffiti. The latter wasn't easy as I found it very difficult to stay "in scale" and not write to big. A smaller black pen might be better next time.
Quite pleased with the result. So I'll try to do the same with the second structure and two bridges that came in the kit.
