Combat Patrol Tyranid army with "generic" terrain

First completed project of 2021!
In this, for me, big project I wanted to achieve two things:
1) Build and paint a 500pts Tyranid force that I could field on its own and include in a much bigger Tyranid force I'm building.
2) Build and paint a portion of the terrain needed to fill up an Incursion scale battlefield to a theme.
Mistakes were made, corners were cut and perfection is nowhere to be found ... BUT: I had an absolute ton of fun building and painting all this and it makes me want to build and paint more!

A Broodlord will be the warlord of my 500pts all Genestealers force. This specific model is from the "Space Hulk" boardgame and it is an awesome sculpt (keep in mind that this is push-fit)!
The colourscheme is the same for the Broodlord and the Genestealers: a grey-blue on the top of the models and a brown-black on de bottom of the models. Focus here was speedpainting with only minimal details painted, but giving a good tabletop standard so they look nice enough when playing a game with them. A bit more attention was given to basing the army. Experimenting with my own mix of orange pigment powder and my homemade wash to create an orangy red Martian look.
Since this bad boy will be the Warlord he got an extra bit of attention: painting in details like the teeth and painting the pile of skulls and helmets he's standing on to a good tabletop standard.

One unit of 5 Genestealers, all nested atop some rusty debris, joins two 10 model strong units of Genestealers to make up the bulk of this army. Spending about 15-20 minutes painting each model and another 25 minutes to get the base right. I think I nailed the speedpaint goal in this project.

First 10 model unit is made up of "Space Hulk" boardgame Genestealers. I really like the dynamic pose of these mini's!

Second 10 model unit is made with the Genestealers included in the start collecting box and two mini's added from an extra Genestealer box.
For the theme of the battlefield I'm trying to create an Imperial Knight resupply base. At the moment I've got the main building ready along with four walkways, two chimneys, three shipping containers and two additional buildings.
The main building is something I'm real happy with since I converted it with boarded up windows and doors, ventilation and actual plasticard windows. I feel that I'm improving with every piece of terrain I build and paint, so you can see some differences in the quality of the paintjob. I'm keeping it this way instead of returning to each piece to improve them slightly. This allows me to see my own progression and actually get projects done!
The three shipping containers were a welcome diversion of painting red and thus bring some extra colour to the battlefield. Each was painted in a slightly different way to try and copy real weathered surfaces.
More to come as I've now started with the second batch of terrain pieces and another 500pts force!
